The College came into existence in 1956 as an institution of Higher Learning in this tribal district. The College was started with Arts and Commerce faculty in 1956, with only 39 Students. In 1958, Science faculty was established in the College. Specialization in the area of Higher Education was the popular demand of the generation, keeping this in view, the college being started post graduation programs in 1975, to cater to the educational requirements of the students of the district. The vocational subjects like Electronics and Computer Science were introduced in 1985 and 1987 respectively. The laboratories of Physics and Electronics are recognized as research laboratories, since 2003, by SGB Amravati University. The college has lot of facilities to promote scientific culture, to develop intellectual tastes and to promote research culture which would serve the Nation in turn the mankind as whole. Every student in this College is given maximum opportunity to exhibit his/her scientific competencies to pursue higher studies and to do research work.

I strongly believe in Team effort and motivate teachers and students to aspire and strive for excellence in education. The major goals of the College are to impart quality education through traditional and innovative learning practices, provide a dynamic and creative academic environment and development of all round personality of the Student. The focus of the College is also on inculcating good moral values and a sense of nationalism for competing in globalization.

The campus caters to the needs of about 5000 students, majority of them belonging to rural and tribal area of the District. It is a challenge and we have to give the best within us to fulfill the needs and aspirations of these students. Our college is well known for sports and extra-curricular activities. With the tradition and solid foundation, I am confident that each one of us will strive hard to make the students more capable to face the challenges of the future. The College tradition has always been to ensure that our students assimilate the best of knowledge from the formal system of education. The College, equally known for its achievements in Sports and extra-curricular activities, strives to instill the spirit of “sportsmanship on and off the field” in its students and enhance their holistic development, as a result the Students, after a thorough training in theory, practice, life skills, personality and attitudinal grooming, are sent out not only as promising brand ambassadors but as confident leaders in the making the Nation.
